Dental Risk Self-Assessment

Exclusively for EDIC Members
EDIC’s Dental Risk Self-Assessment is a valuable tool available exclusively to our members. This easy-to-navigate self-assessment helps identify hidden malpractice risks within your dental practice. By guiding you through common shortcomings, it provides you with essential risk management resources and strategies to prevent negative outcomes and patient harm.
Assessment Description
The assessment is based on EDIC’s claim data, dental risk management principles, and interactions with our policyholders. It evaluates how effectively your dental practice can avoid processes and issues that may lead to malpractice claims. During the self-assessment, you will answer a series of questions designed to highlight improvement opportunities and suggest actions to reduce or eliminate risks.
Topics Covered

- Patient Communication, including translation services and a documentation checklist

How Long Does the Self-Assessment Take?
The assessment can be completed in as little as 10–15 minutes, but we encourage a team-based effort and thoughtful responses. This educational activity has the potential to significantly enhance your patient safety and risk management efforts. The choice is yours on how to apply the recommendations.
Who Should Take the Assessment?
The self-assessment is primarily directed at dental practitioners. However, for a more comprehensive evaluation, it is recommended to complete the assessment as a team. Involving office managers, hygienists, and assistants can provide a more nuanced and thorough assessment.
When Can I Expect to Receive My Report?
Upon completing the assessment, you will receive an email with your results. This report includes useful information and links to additional resources on topics where you received lower scores, making it a valuable resource for years to come.
The Self-Assessment Tool is FREE and limited to insured members. To obtain access, login to the EDIC portal and click on “Resources / Self Risk Assessment”; otherwise apply to become an EDIC member today.
